What is NOGIC JQS?

The Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Joint Qualification System (NOGIC JQS) is an essential initiative aimed at enhancing local participation and fostering the growth of Nigerian businesses within the oil and gas sector. Developed under the aegis of the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), the NOGIC JQS serves as a key mechanism to promote Nigerian content and improve the efficiency of procurement processes in the industry.

Purpose and Objectives

The NOGIC JQS was established to achieve several crucial objectives:

-Increase Local Content: The primary aim is to increase the involvement of Nigerian companies in the oil and gas sector, aligning with the broader objectives of the Nigerian Content Act which seeks to maximize the use of local resources and capabilities.

– Streamline Procurement: By creating a standardized qualification system, NOGIC JQS simplifies and accelerates the procurement and contracting processes for oil and gas companies, ensuring that local firms meet industry standards and requirements.

– Promote Transparency and Fairness: The system aims to ensure a transparent and fair process for local companies seeking to participate in the oil and gas sector, helping to eliminate biases and provide equal opportunities.

– Enhance Competitiveness: NOGIC JQS encourages local firms to elevate their capabilities and meet international standards, fostering a more competitive and robust local industry.

Key Features

The NOGIC JQS encompasses several critical components:

1. Centralized Database: At its core, NOGIC JQS is a centralized database that contains comprehensive information about Nigerian oil and gas service providers. This includes details on their technical capabilities, past performance, and compliance with industry standards.

2. Qualification and Assessment: Companies seeking to participate in the oil and gas sector must undergo a thorough qualification process. This assessment evaluates various factors, including technical expertise, financial stability, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.

3. Ongoing Monitoring and Evaluation: The NOGIC JQS continuously monitors and evaluates the performance of registered companies to ensure ongoing compliance and capability. This helps maintain high standards within the industry and supports continuous improvement.

4. Access for Stakeholders: The system provides access to a wide range of stakeholders, including international oil companies (IOCs), contractors, and other industry participants. This accessibility helps streamline the selection process for contractors and suppliers and promotes broader engagement with local businesses.
