Requirements for Tax Clearance Certificate in Nigeria -SOW

Tax Clearance Certificate is an official document issued by the relevant tax authority to a taxpayer, certifying that, the tax assessed on the income from all sources of the taxpayer for the three years immediately preceding the current year of assessment has been fully paid. Though, in some instance, Tax Clearance  Certificate may be issued to a tax payer who have not fully paid his tax liability, but, needed it for meeting urgent business2 need. This will be done with a promise to pay at a future date within the financial year or tax period under review.

Before 2020, the requirements for Tax Clearance Certificate and the process of obtaining TCC in Nigeria was 100% online, but, due to some recent internal restructuring in Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS), the process has been majorly physical and some online, which will be handled by the FIRS Officials.
